Last year was a profound year of reflection and consolidation for the Alliance for Gender Equality in Europe. Committed to being a learning organisation, we took stock of our contributions since our launch in 2021. We listened closely to our members, partners, and the broader movement to understand how best to evolve our role.
As we passed the threshold of €4 million invested in women-led and LGBTQ-led organisations, we recognised how far we have come as the first and only donor collaborative dedicated to supporting progress for gender equality in Europe.
Our member foundations also reaffirmed their commitment to pooling our strengths and ensuring that resources reach where they are needed most. As a result, our newly adopted strategic framework reflects our planned path forward and sets the course for the fund’s next phase.
Over the past year, we supported many grassroots gender equality organisations doing essential work on women’s economic inclusion, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, protecting migrants, helping women stay safe, and many other issues. Their stories – some of which you will find in this report – serve as a reminder that positive change is always possible, even when the odds seem insurmountable.
Yet, we know much more remains to be done. The interconnected challenges Europe faces today require us to explore new approaches, together. For this reason, we will be rolling up our sleeves and working with others to advance our ambitious goal of unlocking new funding for grassroots organisations. We believe they are best positioned to create long-lasting change and advance inclusive Europe where gender equality is achieved for all.
In this report, we proudly present our impact, learnings as well as the work of our grantee partners. We trust you will find it insightful, and that it will inspire hope and action at a time when they are as vital as they ever were.

The Alliance for Gender Equality in Europe (the Alliance) is a philanthropic initiative created in 2021 to support and strengthen the grassroots gender equality movement in Europe. It is composed by Bodossaki Foundation, Fondation CHANEL, Fondation de France, Fondation RAJA-Danièle Marcovici, JPMorgan Chase, King Baudouin Foundation, and L’Oréal Fund for Women, and hosted by the Network of European Foundations. Through grant-making, capacity strengthening, and awareness raising, the Alliance improves gender equality for all by transforming harmful gender norms and addressing the structural barriers that reinforce inequality and exclusion.
