Over the past year, civil society has often been operating in a state of shock. Many gender equality organisations and movements in Europe are currently facing funding cuts, organised backlash, shrinking civic space, and the exhaustion that comes with working on multiple fronts at once.
At the same time, new ideas, tactics, and collaborations are emerging. This webinar aims to cultivate that energy, sharing inspiring examples of movement strategies and generating ideas for organising more people and organisations.
Join us for an energising 90 minutes of real stories, practical strategies, and genuine solidarity.
What to expect
We will open by sharing key insights from new research on movements for gender equality in Europe that are most relevant for civil society and movement actors.
Then, three remarkable movement-builders will share their experiences of organising and creating change, including the challenges they have faced, the strategies that worked, and the lessons they are carrying forward.
- Tina Tomšič, Organiser at My Voice, My Choice and member of the programme committee of Institute 8 March, a movement-building organisation tackling gender and economic inequalities across Slovenia
- Loubna Messaoudi, Founder of BIWOC* Rising, the first intersectional work and social club designed to empower and support women, trans*, inter+, and non-binary people ofcolour
- Vlad Viski, a Romanian queer activist and president of community-based LGBTQIA+ organisation MozaiQ
The discussion will be moderated by Joanna Maycock, an award-winning feminist campaigner and co-founder of the Flamingo Collective.
We will close with breakout conversations to reflect on the stories heard, connect with peers, and generate ideas for action. These conversations should allow participants to exchange lessons learned and to support each other.
You will leave with practical tactics and strategies you can actually use and hopefully, a little more energy than you arrived with.
